Skin is a multifunctional organ, which is not only a primary protective barrier, but also plays important roles in thermoregulation, pigmentation, reduction of water loss and production of vitamin D [1]. Once the skin is injured, wound-healing cascade initiates immediately to restore the barrier, which process is characterized as four distinct but overlapping phases: hemostasis (0-several hours after injury), inflammation (1-3 days), proliferation (4-21 days) and remodeling (21 days-1 year) [2].
