Tattooing is defined as the introduction of exogenous pigments in the dermis in order to obtain a permanent design [1]. This practice is fairly widespread worldwide with an estimated prevalence of approximately 25% in the USA [2] and 10% in Europe/Australia [3] in persons aged 18-50 years. Furthermore, the practice of tattooing is increasing, particularly in young people [4].
