Alopecia areata is a common, polygenic, autoimmune disorder involving the hair follicles. During the regrowth phase, hair may temporarily be non-pigmented, or hypopigmented due to a decreased number of melanoblasts and abnormal melanogenesis in the areas of hair regrowth [1].
