Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL) is an aggressive type of nodal peripheral T-cell lymphoma derived from mature T follicular helper (TFH) cells. The clonal expansion of bystander Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-infected B cells and subsequent proliferation of the EBV-infected B cells are seen in most cases (75%), which is considered to be a secondary phenomenon caused by the immunodeficient status in such patients [1, 2].
