Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is a rare, small-cell skin cancer arising from neuroendocrine cells [1]. Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) is present in up to 80% of MCC cases and may promote oncogenesis in immunosuppressed individuals [2].
