Diagnostic anténatal des infections virales

Virologie. Volume 1, Number 5, 403-12, Septembre - Octobre 1997, Revues

Résumé   Article gratuit

Author(s) : P. Palmer, F. Rozenberg, J.-F. Meritet, P. Lebon

Summary : The diagnosis of fetal infection in utero is necessary for prenatal counseling in cases of maternal viral infection or ultrasonography fetal anomaly detection during pregnancy. The laboratory tests that are available include : isolation of the virus, detection of the viral nucleic acids and identification of IgM fetal antibody. These techniques can be done from amniotic fluid or fetal blood samples. Prenatal diagnosis is principally used to document infections induced by cytomegalovirus, parvovirus B19, rubella virus and varicella-zoster virus. The choice of fetal sample and laboratory methods to achieve antenatal diagnosis depends on suspected virus. Further investigations are needed concerning the characterization of factors useful to predict fetal damage.
