Summary : The aim of this study was to evaluate whether the manual endoscopic disinfection in our hospital was following the officials guidelines. This work was initiated and managed by the nosocomial infection committee (CLIN). Two evaluation tools were used : a list of questions upon the organization of the endoscopy departments and a detailed questionnaire about the 5 disinfection steps. One thousand one hundred and eighty endoscopics acts were monthly performed with 155 endoscopes in the 15 departments. Sixty per cent disinfection rooms was not been in conformity with the official recommendation. This work showed that it was necessary to improve cleaning and decontamination, and to improve disinfection time and disinfectant concentration. We also point out the need to reduce the risk of the health care workers from exposure to blood, body fluids and disinfectant vapors. Thus this study allowed to improve the quality of disinfection, the protection of patients and of the medical workers. |
