Summary : This paper deals with the Sisseb El Alem basin in Central Tunisia, one of the main reservoirs of water in Tunisia. After the identification of the main aquifers, it raises questions concerning present resource management and underlines importance of the overexploitation of both deep and shallow aquifers. Finally, it presents some elements for an integrated and sustainable management of resources based on better management of demand along with better knowledge of recharge zones through the use of geochemical techniques and particularly radiocarbon dating of groundwater. |
