Oléagineux, Corps Gras, Lipides. Volume 8, Number 3, 230-6, Mai - Juin 2001, Dossier : Soja, arachide, coton : aspects des conditions d'évolution des filières

Résumé   Article gratuit

Author(s) : Robert SCHILLING

Summary : The paper gives an overview of groundnut cropping, transformation and trade in developping countries accounting for over 85% of world production, through smallholder farming systems based on the following technical characteristics: hand cropping with occasional use of animal tillage; low use of chemicals and other commercial inputs; rotations and associations with other annuals (dominantly cereals) in a global low-risk and low-investment strategy ending up with yields generally inferior to one tonne/hectare.

Keywords : groundnut, farming systems, seed, irrigation, plant protection, post-harvest technology.
