Summary : Identification of genes involved in sunflower defense mechanisms against downy mildew, Plasmopara halstedii, was undertaken in hypocotyls, 24 and 48 hours after secondary infection. Molecular characterization of disease interaction was carried out by studies of the expression of genes known to be involved in plants defense mechanisms such as Phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (PAL), chitinase and ubiquitine. The expression of these genes are induced during incompatible combinations (resistance). Similarly, the use of differential display reverse transcription PCR allowed us to detect 2 cDNA involved in defense mechanisms of sunflower against downy mildew, specifically in resistance mechanisms. |
