Which animals should be patented ?

Cahiers Agricultures. Volume 2, Number 5, 343-5, Septembre-Octobre 1993, Option

Résumé   Article gratuit

Author(s) : Louis-Marie Houdebine

Summary : The idea of patenting animals is rejected by a certain number of people. They consider that patent is still increasing the exploitation of animals. An examination of the situation suggests that patenting is justified for a relatively limited number of animals. It seems not reasonable to consider that patenting will per se increase exploitation of animals. The wellfare of animals must be examined and controlled by specialized Commissions independently of their patenting.
