From chronic disease to end of life in a pediatric gastro-entorology unit |

Summary : Chronic diseases might lead to some form of violence, for the patient and its family, but also for the professional carers. Medical and surgical technical progresses push back therapeutic limits and further question about what is reasonable or not. End of live care changes over time with these therapeutic progresses, but remain unique to each single patient and family and each case improves our reflections on the topic. Collegiality, shared professional experience (with the palliative care unit) and each singular clinical situation (will of the child and its parents) improve our care practice in these end of life situation of child with chronic diseases. We presented in this paper our thoughts and experience in our pediatric gastro-enterology unit. |
