Summary : The design and building of Community Information Systems highlights new learning processes associated with the paradigm shift from knowledge transfer to interactive knowledge construction. In this paper we exhibit a framework inspired from educational sciences in order to represent and analyze the process. Our case is the production of ‘objectives diagrams’ during the analysis phase of the building of a CIS dedicated to water quality management in the alpine Hien Valley. After describing the case and briefly browsing through some theoretical background related to conversational learning, we propose a framework where the collaborative CIS design activities and the direct confrontation of territorial practices both contribute to interactive knowledge construction.
