Summary : The disorderly life of the Marquis de Sade resonates with the great changes brought about by the French Revolution and its “Enlightenment”. Its licentiousness, condemned by all regimes, hides a complex disease that involves depression, delusions and a perversion that is not limited to acts that defines its name. The combination of his inextricable “sadism” in a predominantly masochistic behaviour in fact reflects the symptomatic condition. The clinical and therapeutic approach, focused on sadomasochism, seeks to expose and then connect the deadly libidinal effects to create opportunities for change. |
