Summary : The article aims to give an overview of Roland KuhnâÇ™s French writings on existential analysis. This Swiss psychiatrist, who recently passed away, was considered by Ludwig Binswanger as his spiritual son. His research in psychopharmacology led him to the discovery, in 1957, of the fi rst anti-depressant. Based on an examination of the issue of depression, we emphasize the substantial role in his work of phenomenology, which is inseparable from his clinical studies. Counting philosophers such as Gaston Bachelard, Michel Foucault and Henri Maldiney among his friends, Roland Kuhn considered philosophy as an interrogation on existence, capable of placing the question of the subject back at the heart of all psychopathological research. |
