Summary : Changes due to a shifting demand for care and symptomatic modes of expression, along with the increased weight of environmental factors, have been thoroughly highlighted in the past fifteen or so years. Child psychiatrists tackling this question emphasize the specificities of these "new children" who blur established psychopathological classifications. Some child profiles that stand out from our clinical observations also raise questions as to the pertinence of our etiopathogenic models and make it imperative to update standard clinical categories and therapies.

Keywords : child psychiatry, demand for care, new models, parenthood, preneurotic organisations, opposition, provocation.
