In Western societies, children are at the centre of all attentions: we love them, we protect them and we spoil them. Their well-being and personal growth take priority. Far from being simply the opposite of ill-treatment, the notion of well-treatment towards children raises questions about our healthcare, pedagogical and educational institutions and, more generally, about those related to children. Despite their intentions, are the laws and provisions implemented by the French departmental councils, regional healthcare agencies and Department of National Education orientated towards well-treatment?

However, these are not the only institutions involved. In order to provide an answer to this thorny problem, we must question our cultural, social and economic models.

For this collective publication, specialists from different horizons have been invited: clinicians, philosophers, social workers in the field of child protection, juvenile judges, economists, environmental specialists and artists, among others. They open paths for reflection to broaden the debate.
