Memories of the life over the years have left deep marks on the memory of the Alzheimer’s patient. Just evoking them is enough to see them come back up to the surface. It is therefore very important to be able to stimulate them. Bringing them back up to the surface makes it possible to reinforce the reality of his or her existence. This workbook proposes 20 situations that make it possible to evoke memories of events that marked the life of the Alzheimer’s patient: memories of childhood, adolescence and adult life. Each situation is developed in a double page, left and right:
- left-hand page: an illustration makes it possible for the carer to evoke the theme and to centre his or her questions
- right-hand page: the evocation of one or several photos (taken from family archives) concerning the life of the patient (him or her, his or her parents, objects that are familiar).
Through 20 situations describing events of life over the years, this book proposes exercises that benefit the Alzheimer’s patient:
- to stimulate the memory that he or she has left as much as possible
- to give him or her the pleasure of reliving memories
- to reinsert the patient in his or her personal reality
- to develop a permanent dialogue with him or her
This workbook is built progressively and the patient participates in its construction.
