Immunohaematology is a laboratory discipline that studies the antigens of red blood cell groups and their possible target antibodies.
One of the main objectives of this work is to outline the different existing immunohaematology analyses. The objectives and constraints of performing analyses, and the possible uses of the analyses results are described alongside their technical and interpretation limits.
A large number of “technical solutions” are suggested, some of which are collated in sheets presented at the end of the work.
They will enable biologists and technicians to resolve nearly all technical or laboratory problems encountered.
Apart from their theoretical relevance in the field of genetic anthropology (not addressed in the book), it is very accurate clinical circumstances in which blood groups participate, such as blood transfusion and pregnancy.
These different areas in which immunohaematology results are used are detailed in the second part of the book.
Finally, the authors examine the immunohaematology technologies of the future in the last part of the book.
