Ankyolising spondylitis is an inflammatory disease that gives rise to pain and stiffness in the spine and causes ankylosis of the axial skeleton as a whole.
After a reminder of the epidemiology and physiopathology of the disease, the authors describe the various symptoms: rheumatism, extra-articular pain, intestinal problems, psoriasis and eye problems.
Next they describe various methods that may be used for diagnosis: conventional imaging, MRI scans and ultrasound scans.
Much of the book is then devoted to various forms of treatment for ankyolising spondylitis, covering drugs, physiotherapy and surgery.
The authors also look at the psychological and social impact of this painful and disabling condition, as well as the economic aspects.
